A bivariate Poisson count data model using conditional probabilities

چکیده

The applied econometrics of bivariate count data predominantly focus on a bivariate Poisson density described by Johnson and Kotz. The main limitation is that this bivariate distribution excludes zero and negative correlation. This paper introduces a new model which allows for a more exible correlation structure. To this end the joint density is decomposed by means of the multiplication rule in marginal and conditional densities. Simulation experiments and an application of the model to recreational data are presented.

Estimation of Count Data using Bivariate Negative Binomial Regression Models

Abstract Negative binomial regression model (NBR) is a popular approach for modeling overdispersed count data with covariates. Several parameterizations have been performed for NBR, and the two well-known models, negative binomial-1 regression model (NBR-1) and negative binomial-2 regression model (NBR-2), have been applied. Another parameterization of NBR is negative binomial-P regression mode...

A bivariate INAR(1) process with application

The study of time series models for count data has become a topic of special interest during the last years. However, while research on univariate time series for counts now flourish, the literature on multivariate time series models for count data is notably more limited. In the present paper, a bivariate integer-valued autoregressive process of order 1 (BINAR(1)) is introduced. Emphasis is pl...

Exact maximum coverage probabilities of confidence intervals with increasing bounds for Poisson distribution mean

‎A Poisson distribution is well used as a standard model for analyzing count data‎. ‎So the Poisson distribution parameter estimation is widely applied in practice‎. ‎Providing accurate confidence intervals for the discrete distribution parameters is very difficult‎. ‎So far‎, ‎many asymptotic confidence intervals for the mean of Poisson distribution is provided‎. ‎It is known that the coverag...

Functional Form and Heterogeneity in Models for Count Data

This study presents several extensions of the most familiar models for count data, the Poisson and negative binomial models. We develop an encompassing model for two well-known variants of the negative binomial model (the NB1 and NB2 forms). We then analyze some alternative approaches to the standard log gamma model for introducing heterogeneity into the loglinear conditional means for these mo...

A generalized right truncated bivariate Poisson regression model with applications to health data

A generalized right truncated bivariate Poisson regression model is proposed in this paper. Estimation and tests for goodness of fit and over or under dispersion are illustrated for both untruncated and right truncated bivariate Poisson regression models using marginal-conditional approach. Estimation and test procedures are illustrated for bivariate Poisson regression models with applications ...
